Monday Message - April 20, 2020 - At-Home Activities For Kids
With Canadians still in lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic, CTMP is sharing some fun and educating activities for kids from our racing partners.
While it’s important that kids stay busy and have fun, everyone can agree that keeping kids’ minds active is of equal importance. Science Technology Engineering & Math (STEM) games are a great way for kids to learn about sometimes complicated concepts in a fun and immersive way.
Recently NASCAR and Scholastic teamed up on a full program of STEM games that teach kids about things like aerodynamics and energy by examining race-cars with lessons on downforce, drafting, airflow, friction, and more. These resources are also available to teachers to use in their online classes as examples of these concepts in related courses. An interactive part of the program lets kids design and driver their own NASCAR! Click here to see more about NASCAR & Scholastic's program.
The IMSA Kid’s Club also has compiled several downloadable colouring books featuring LMP2 and GT Daytona IMSA cars that kids will love. The Era Motorsports colouring template also includes a contest where fans can submit their drawings and liveries. The winner’s livery will be used on the real-life LMP2 car later this year at the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. More family fun activities are coming so stay tuned to IMSA Kid’s Club and follow IMSA on Twitter for updates. Click here to visit the IMSA Kid's Club web-page.
As well, Canadian Tire and Jumpstart’s Play From Home resource site compiles tonnes of initiatives from all over Canada to keep kids active from home. These include STEM games from the NHL & NHLPA’s Future Goals Program, as well as a long list of indoor, outdoor, and quiet-time activities from resources throughout the country.
