2020 IMSA Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Cancelled
Canada’s biggest sports car race of the year has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) announced today that the popular and long-standing Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix weekend of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship has been cancelled due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
“CTMP continues to closely monitor all developments in terms of COVID-19, and it has become clear that hosting the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix will not be possible for 2020,” said President & General Manager Myles Brandt.
“We are disappointed of course, but we remain focused on a safe environment for our staff, fans, and competitors and that means doing our part to prevent spread of this disease.”
The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix weekend was scheduled for July 2nd to 5th, 2020. IMSA will return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the 2021 season.
In addition to the cancellation of the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, earlier this year the Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest was postponed due to COVID-19. With public gatherings and stay-at-home orders continuing into June, the decision has also been made to officially cancel the Victoria Day event that was to take place May 15th to 17th.
At this time CTMP will be offering the following two options in regards to tickets and/or camping you have purchased for these 2020 events (Castrol Victoria Day SpeedFest & Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix); transfer your 2020 ticket purchase to an event in 2021 or request a full refund, please correspond with us via email - info@ctmpark.com .
On behalf of all of us here at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, we thank you for your patience and understanding.
