CTMP Announces Acura Canada Partnership For Mobil 1 SCGP
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) today announced a new partnership with Acura Canada that will see the Markham-based automotive brand become presenting sponsor of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at the legendary road course July 4-7.
Now called the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Acura, this event is Canada’s only stop in the prestigious IMSA WeatherTech Championship for exotic closed-wheel prototypes and GT Sports Cars, which includes such iconic tracks as Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
“We’re excited to partner with Acura and have the opportunity to work with such an important automotive performance brand for Canada’s biggest sports car race of the year,” said CTMP President and General Manager, Myles Brandt. “This is a golden age for sports car racing, enhanced by brands like Acura, with racing in their DNA. It’s great for the event and CTMP, our fans, and the motorsport industry in Canada.”
On track during the July 4-7 race weekend, Acura will be a key player in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship, campaigning a pair of Acura ARX-05 DPi prototypes with the legendary Team Penske (stars Helio Castroneves and Juan Pablo Montoya lead their four-driver effort). In the GTD Class category, Acura races two NSX GT3s including the Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing #57 all-female driving duo, headed by racer Katherine Legge.
