Fellows, Goodyear Boys Team Up For Last CASC Event Of The Year at CTMP
The sons of two Canadian racing greats will be teammates this weekend at the last CASC Ontario Regional event of the year, the Celebration of Motorsport at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP).
The pair of Sam Fellows and Michael Goodyear will enter Saturday’s Pirelli GT Challenge 90 minute endurance race with Pfaff Motorsports in a BMW M235iR.
Last year at the Celebration of Motorsport, the father-son duo of Michael and Scott Goodyear won the GT2 class in the same car.
“I’m extremely excited to be back with Pfaff Motorsports driving their BMW M235iR Touring Car with Sam Fellows at CTMP. My dad has a deep history with Pfaff and I am honoured to be a second-generation racing driver for them,” said Michael Goodyear. “CTMP is my favourite track in North America and I’m looking forward to a fun weekend.”
Earlier this year, Sam Fellows ran the same BMW in the Canadian Touring Car Championship event at CTMP on Castrol presents Victoria Day SpeedFest. Fellows walked away with a win and a second place finish in two races in the Super Touring class.
“It’s going to be very cool to team up with Michael for this weekend and have the Fellows and Goodyear names side by side on the same roof.” Fellows said. “Michael and I met last year at the regional event and he’s a super nice guy and a very fast driver, I’m sure we’ll make a great team and hopefully come away with a win on Saturday for Pfaff.”
Pfaff Motorsports is fresh off a historic season having won the Pirelli World Challenge GT Sprint Championship with drivers Scott Hargrove and Wolf Henzler in their first year of competition in the series - the first team to ever do so.
“I’m excited to get back out to CTMP and work with Michael and Sam this weekend,”said Steve Bortolotti, Program Manager at Pfaff Motorsports. “We love getting out and supporting CASC regional racing when our schedule permits.”
The Celebration of Motorsport weekend includes a full racing schedule for Saturday and Sunday featuring a multitude of CASC Ontario Regional classes. Aside from the 90 minute Pirelli GT Challenge endurance race Saturday afternoon, the weekend includes the Pirelli GT Sprints featuring multiple classes of touring and GT cars in 30 minute races. Multiple classes of vintage and classic cars will be competing, as well as Formula Libre open-wheels and the Radical Cup.
