Ron Fellows Shares Memories On NASCAR Jimmie Johnson Day 4/8/2020

NASCAR has declared today April 8th (4/8) as Jimmie Johnson Day, in honour of the driver's legendary career. With the 7-time champion announcing his retirement from NASCAR Cup Series competition at the end of 2020, the series is encouraging fans and the industry to share their favourite Jimmie memories.
CTMP Co-Owner Ron Fellows has had the opportunity to know Jimmie over the past couple decades both as a friend and a competitor.
"A quick story, Canadians will appreciate; Jimmie and I were teammates at JR Motorsports back at Watkins Glen in 2011 and I was driving the #5 Canadian Tire Chevy. Before the start of the race, Jimmie and I were standing around chatting, waiting for driver introductions and Jimmie looks at the plain red triangle on my fire-suit and asks: “Is that a Canadian pizza company?”"
"I first met Jimmie back in 2000 at an Xfinity Series test at Watkins Glen. He was a very talented, respectful and humble young man. Some 20 years and seven NASCAR Cup Series championships later, Jimmie is still the same person. Long after he retires, people will look back at Jimmie’s NASCAR accomplishments, during arguably the most competitive NASCAR era, and realize how truly great a racing driver he is!"
Congratulations Jimmie on an incredible NASCAR career!
Johnson (#7) and Fellows (#5) both achieve Top 10 finishes as JR Motorsports teammates at the 2011 Watkins Glen Xfinity race.
