Justin Haley Wins Dramatic NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Chevrolet Silverado 250 At CTMP
Justin Haley won Sunday’s dramatic Chevrolet Silverado 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Playoff contender Stewart Friesen of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., finished seventh.
As it has in past years, the Chevrolet Silverado 250 featured a dramatic finish. With a full-course caution coming with three laps remaining in the race, NASCAR officials called for an overtime finish which meant a two-lap shootout to the checkered. Eighteen-year-old rookie Todd Gilliland, of Sherrills Ford, NC in the No. 4 Frontline Toyota Tundra led teammate Noah Gragson, of Las Vegas, Nev., in the No. 18 Safelite Autoglass Toyota Tundra at the restart. Haley, of Winamac, Ind., in the No. 24 Fraternal Order of Eagles Chevrolet Silverado followed in third. On the last turn of the last lap, Gragson attempted an inside pass on Gilliland and the two came together with both trucks spinning on the front straight allowing Haley to slide by for the checkered. Former race winner (2016) John Hunter Nemechek, of Mooresville, NC, in the No. 8 D.A.B. Constructors Inc./Fleetwing Corp. Chevrolet Silverado finished second. Brett Moffitt (Grimes, Ia.) in the No. 16 Don Valley North Toyota Tundra crossed the line in third. Friesen, in the No. 52 We Build America Chevrolet Silverado, the lone Canadian among eight drivers in the playoffs, finished seventh overall after starting 16th.
