What's On At The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix
Canada’s biggest sports car race of the year, the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, is upon us! The feature of the weekend is the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with exotic prototypes and GT race cars fresh off their drives at Le Mans as they make their only north-of-the border stop.
There will be plenty of opportunities to meet and speak with your favourite drivers, so bring a Sharpie, your autograph book and camera. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is hosting interactive activities to help provide fans with an unforgettable experience. This weekend there will be a Continental Tire SportCar autograph session on Saturday morning and a WeatherTech SportsCar autograph session on Sunday morning, followed by the Open Grid Walk in the afternoon.
As usual, the CTMP Marketplace will be open. This weekend in the Marketplace, the CTMP Merchandise Trailer and IMSA will be selling merchandise. If you are looking to get more interactive, the Marketplace will have GM doing their Chevy Race Face activation, Motul will be there with display vehicles and various activities including a racing simulator, and Permatex is doing a Prize Putt where you can drive your way to a prize with Black Magic and Rain-X.
There are other opportunities to win this weekend at CTMP on social media! Head over to Turn 2 and take a picture with our #CTMPLife photo spot. By posting it on Instagram, tagging @CTMPOfficial and using #CTMPLife, you get a free event poster (pick up at the Merchandise Trailer) and entered into a draw. The winner will be upgraded to Grand Prix Club on Sunday!
You can also win prize packages in the Carlsberg Beer Garden! Check-in at CTMP using the UnTappd app and share what you’re drinking for a chance to win a prize pack!
On Saturday and Sunday make sure you bring the little ones to check out the Kid’s Zone in the Marketplace. There will be inflatables! The two jumping castles and slide will be there from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Razpberry the Clown will also be there doing balloons and face paint on Saturday and face paint on Sunday.
When you start to work up an appetite there is plenty of options to fill that empty stomach. The Trackside Grill will be hot and ready with a variety of combo options featuring fries, poutine, prime rib burgers and hot dogs. Race goers will also be able to find Horn Dawgs serving great BBQ foods like ribs and pulled pork. Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream will be available at the Enniskillen General Store kiosk in the Marketplace for a cool treat and the Carlsberg Beer Garden will be open this weekend as well. On Saturday night, the Beer Garden is hosting a party featuring a live performance by Tamin Thunder at 7 p.m.
