Top 7 Awesome Things to See and Do at The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix

Okay, so the on-track action is definitely the main event of the weekend at the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix - but there’s tons of stuff to do when you’re not watching race cars fly by at 300 km/h…

This list is in no particular order, but these are the Top 7 awesome things to see and do at this upcoming race weekend.

CTMP Marketplace

It’s not your typical marketplace…you won’t be able to buy fresh parsnips. But you will find all kinds of stuff to do here - like the Chevy Tent for the Chevy Race Face contest. Take a hilarious slow-motion video and enter a contest to win a hot-lap on Sunday with Ron Fellows. There’s also food vendors like Horn Dog’s BBQ - best ribs in the game, and plenty of merchandise to peruse with vendors like Piloti Shoes, Red Beard’s racing merchandise, and the official IMSA merchandise tent. And oh yeah, don’t forget to visit the CTMP Official Merchandise trailer for all the coolest stuff - like the Mosport F1 50th Anniversary t-shirts, those are selling fast!

Carlsberg Beer Garden

Located at the end of the CTMP Marketplace, on the inside of Turn 1, the Carlsberg Beer Garden is a prime place to watch racing and drink quality pints. They’ll be pouring:
- Carlsberg
- Carlsberg Lite
- Kronenbourg 1664
- Kronenbourg Blanc
- Somersby Cider
It’s definitely a good spot to be, provided of course you are 19 or older…And bonus, it’s open late on Saturday night for a special event - which brings us to the next bullet point…

State of Moradness Live - Saturday @ 8:00PM

Toronto's Daniel Morad has been absolutely crushing 2017 so far. He started off the season in style with a GTD class win at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Got to love Canadians coming home from Daytona with a Rolex. Ron Fellows says “welcome to the club, kid.” Anyways…you might not know that Daniel moonlights as a DJ, and he’s pretty legit. On top of racing this weekend in the GTD Alegra Porsche GT3, Daniel is going to play a set on Saturday night starting at 8:00 PM at the Carlsberg Beer Garden.

Check out some of his stuff on SoundCloud.

#ctmplife Photo Spot

Located near the top of Turn 2 on the inside of the track, this is a new addition for CTMP in 2017. If you noticed, last year we started running the #ctmplife hashtag. What is #ctmplife? Pretty much everything awesome you can do at CTMP crunched into a hashtag. Crackin’ a cold one trackside with the boys? Snapping a photo of your kids with their favourite driver? Lighting a campfire and blasting The Tragically Hip? It’s all #ctmplife - and we want you to share it with us. Post your selfies and your photos at the #ctmplife photo spot, tag us (@ctmpofficial) and tell us what #ctmplife means to you…if we’re impressed we’ll hook you up with some merchandise. DISCLAIMER: MUST LIKE FREE STUFF.

SnapChat Geo-Filter

We’re new at this SnapChat thing but as the kids say it’s pretty 'lit.' Am I using that right? First of all, add us on SnapChat: CTMPLIFE. And on Saturday night (at State of Moradness) and Sunday we’ll have a SnapChat Geo-Filter running in the paddock, CTMP Marketplace, and on the front straight - and we want you to use it! Never seen a Geo-Filter before? Snap a photo using the Geo-Filter and put it on your story, and Snap it to us at CTMPLIFE. We’ll hook you up with some sweet sweet swag - AKA merchandise.

Add us on SnapChat.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Autograph Session

There’s not many racing series in the world that will let you get this close to the drivers…At Sunday morning’s paddock autograph session you can meet your favourite drivers of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and get all the autographs you want. The autograph sessions starts at 9:30 and runs until 10:15 on Sunday morning.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Open Grid-Walk

After the paddock autograph session, IMSA goes one step further to delivering the ultimate race-fan experience. You can walk out onto pit lane to mingle with teams and drivers, and get right up next to your favourite cars just minutes before the race goes green! The Highland Creek Pipe Band is back again this year marching up and down the grid as usual. The open grid-walk is a prime time for selfies and ‘cough-cough’ using the #ctmplife hashtag in your posts. The Grid-Walk begins around 10:45 AM, after the grid walk is done you can walk over the Michelin Bridge and enjoy the start of the race from the front straightaway. The Continental SportsCar Challenge also has an open grid walk and autograph session on Saturday at around 2:00PM.

ALSO:

Our friends at Canadian Tire have hooked us up again with some courtesy shuttles for the weekend, so you can hop on and see as much of the track as you can. If you've never gone all the way back to Turn 5, catch a shuttle and check it out for sure.

See you this weekend!
