RaceFest Takes Over Yonge-Dundas Square

Some of the world’s best sports car drivers along with several Exotic Prototypes and High-Tech GT Race Cars of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship were at Yonge-Dundas Square on Wednesday as part of RaceFest. The event gave fans an early opportunity to meet the drivers and see the cars before they headed off to Canada’s biggest sports car race this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), July 5-8, part of the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix.

A highlight of RaceFest was the live Pit Stop demonstrations by the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship factory Corvette Racing GTLM team. Ron Fellows got behind the wheel of the No. 4 Corvette C7R to burn some rubber as well! Cars on display included the Acura Team Penske prototype, JDC-Miller Motorsports prototype, and the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing GT.

Drivers on hand meeting with fans were 2017 WeatherTech Sportscar Championship winning driver Ricky Taylor; Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, and Oliver Gavin; Christina Nielsen – the first female driver to win a WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series title; Canadians Kyle Marcelli, Jesse Lazare and Anthony Simone, and Peruvian Rodrigo Pflucker.

Day or weekend passes for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix this coming July 5 - 8 weekend can be purchased at the main gate!
