CANADA’S BIGGEST SPORTSCAR EVENT OF THE YEAR UNDERWAY AT CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK

The checkered flag flew late Friday afternoon at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park to close out the second day of action at the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, Canada’s biggest sports car event of the year. Running through to July 9th, the weekend features the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with its exotic prototype and GT race cars, in their only Canadian stop.

The Tequila Patron ESM team of Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel posted the fastest time of the day in practice session #2 for the WeatherTech Championship. Driving the No. 2 Nissan DPi in the prototype class, Dalziel posted a 1:08.994 for top spot.

In IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge action, Trent Hindman in the No. 12 Bodymotion Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 posted the quickest time in the GS class in practice #1 with a 1:25.462. Hindman is teamed with Cameron Cassels of Coldstream, British Columbia.

Saturday's on-track action features an 8:30 am start for Continental Tire Challenge qualifying, with drivers taking to the track later in the day at 2:50 pm for Round 5 of the series’ 2017 season and the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120. WeatherTech Championship qualifying for Sunday’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix starts at 12:05 pm Saturday. Tomorrow’s schedule also includes races in both the Formula 4 United States Championship series and the IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda.

Many fan-friendly activities are scheduled for the weekend including the popular WeatherTech Championship Series Open Grid Walk on Sunday where spectators are allowed to gather in pit lane moments before the green flag drops, along with all the cars, drivers and crews. Fans are encouraged to bring their Sharpies, autograph books, and cameras because there will be excellent opportunities to meet and speak with the drivers.

There are Car Corrals for some of the top marques including Corvette, BMW, Porsche and Mazda as well as the CTMP Marketplace (featuring a variety of vendors and interactive displays), the CTMP Merchandise Trailer (selling official merchandise) and the Pinty’s Trackside Grill, open all day to help feed hungry race fans.

Single-day tickets are available at the gate: $40 on Saturday and $50 on Sunday. Children 16 and under are free with paid adult admission. For more information on the weekend or for purchasing information click 'Buy Tickets.'
