407 East On Track For Completion By 2020
January 2018
The Highway 407 east project is scheduled to be finished by 2020. Once complete, the highway will take you just 5km south of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
In a press conference last month, Ontario transportation minister Steven Del Duca said “(We’re) very happy to confirm that the entirety of the Highway 407 east, all the way out to the 115/35, will be completed by 2020 as we promised.”
Minister Del Duca also said “It’s great news for the economy of this entire region.”
But it’s also great news for the thousands of fans travelling to CTMP each year.
With the opening of the 412 and the 407 east to Harmony Road, you can now get to CTMP from Downtown Toronto in under an hour; taking the 404/401/412/407 east to the Harmony Road exit.
From Oakville and Mississauga, the 407 ETR to the 407 east takes approximately an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half at most.
When fully completed, commuters will be able to take the 407 east all the way to the Darlington-Clarke Townline interchange for a short 5km drive to CTMP. Thus, the fastest way to get to CTMP will take you north towards Mosport Road - approaching the track from the south-side.
The 407 east expansion is broken down into multiple phases of construction.
Phase 1 of the expansion includes the 412 and 407 east extension to Harmony Road, which was opened in June 2016. Metroland Media Durham reported last month that this section is currently being used by roughly 40,000 vehicles per day.
Phase 2 includes two separate expansions; 2A and 2B.
Phase 2A includes the East-West section from Harmony Road to Taunton Road, which is now officially open to the public.
Phase 2B will open in 2020 and will extend the 407 east all the way to the 35-115, and also includes Highway 418, which will connect the 401 and 407 east.
These images below show a zoomed view of Phase 2B and how you can eventually get to CTMP.
CTMP will keep you up to date on all relevant information as it develops. If you have any questions feel free to message us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
