If you’re interested in oval racing, the best thing to do would be to come out and watch a few races first to determine what type of car you'd like to race. At the Speedway, three distinct classes of stock car racing compete each Saturday night from May to September. The Pure Stock class (each car competing has a 6-cylinder or smaller sized engine) is a relatively inexpensive form of racing that is ideal for first-timers seeking to gain some oval track experience. An average Pure Stock car can be purchased 'ready to race' for between $1,500 and $2,000. You can also build your own Pure Stock car for roughly the same amount. Many of the current competitors at the Speedway are more than willing to answer questions and help newcomers in any way they can, either before or after the race.
