John Nemechek Wins Chevrolet Silverado 250

John Nemechek thrilled the huge crowd on hand at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, winning the fourth annual Chevrolet Silverado 250. The #8 NEMCO Motorsports Chevrolet driver took the controversial win by a mere 0.034 seconds over the pole sitting Cole Custer, crossing the finish line in the grass and against the wall in the most exciting finish of the weekend.

The duo was tailed by Daniel Hemric, crossing the finish line on pavement. Cameron Hayley of Calgary, AB was the top finishing Canadian who brought home the #13 Ride TV/Cabinets by Haley Toyota in seventh place.

The NASCAR Pinty’s Series returned for their second race of the season on Canadian Tire Motorsport Park’s historic road course. Kevin Lacroix, a Jostens Rookie of the Year contender, won his first career road course race by claiming the Can-Am 200 NASCAR Pinty’s Series tenth race by 3.871 seconds over L.P. Dumoulin. Cayden Lapcevich finished third to complete the podium.

Sunday’s racing action also saw the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama complete their weekend doubleheader. Zacharie Robichon took the win in Platinum Cup over Scott Hargrove. Bruno Chapinotti was first in Gold Cup class with Shaun McKaigue finishing in second.

In the weekend finale for the Canadian Touring Car Championship, Bob Attrell came in first overall, taking the win in Grand Touring. Eric Hochgeschurz was the winner in Super Touring and Michael Sallenback took first in Touring.

Nissan Micra Cup also had their second race of the weekend and of the season at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Stefan Rzadzinski took the win over Olivier Bedard by only 0.732 seconds. Valerie Limoges came in third with an equally impressive time.

Cole Custer Wins Pole For Chevrolet Silverado 250

California native Cole Custer won the pole for the Chevrolet Silverado 250, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race with a time of 1:19.175, driving the #00 Haas Automation Chevrolet. The JR Motorsports rookie driver will be joined on the front row by Austin Cindric in the #2 Ford. Daniel Hemric will start third.

In NASCAR Pinty’s Series qualifying, Alex Tagliani of Montreal set the pace for the Can-Am 200 with a fast lap of 1:22.770. Kevin Lacroix will start second and Roxton Pond, QC native Andrew Ranger, who was winner of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in May, will start third.

The Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama held their first race of a Saturday/Sunday doubleheader. Scott Hargrove was the winner in Platinum Cup, with Daniel Morad in second. Shaun McKaigue finished first in Gold Cup and Andrew Danyliw was victorious in Silver Cup.

In Canadian Touring Car Championship action, Bob Attrell took the checkered flag in Grand Touring while Scott Nicol was first in Super Touring and Michel Sallenbach was victorious in Touring.

Sunday’s schedule begins with a race for the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Yokohama and will be followed by the Can-Am 200 at 11:05 am. The Chevrolet Silverado gets the green flag at 2:30 pm.
